PHOTO-PAINT TUTORIAL: How to Create a Nova
Above is a relatively simple image, using Objects in PHOTO-PAINT X3.
This image is composed of 3 Objects, as you can see in the Objects Docker, above. To show you what's happening, I've created screen shots of each Object, so you can see what's going on.
This is the background only, created from a terrain map I found in Bryce. In my version of Bryce (v.5) terrain maps were a black and white image that was later transformed into a 3D object. With the particular map, I accessed Camera: Lighting Effects and colored the image before blurring it.
Object 2, above, is a simple background of stars, created by different brush sizes of white points on a black background.
Object 1. Again, this is a starfield, but of larger stars. To generate the above effect, I accessed Effects: Blur: Zoom and experimented with the setting to get the effect that I desired.
To create the final effect, where the stars would overlay the background, I accessed the Merge Mode popup for each star object and chose Dodge or Overlay.
This is all that's needed to complete the image and to create the exploding nebula effect. This example is relatively simple, but it gives you an idea of the power of Objects.
